Dear MU members and Supporters,
I have important information to share with you and am looking forward to your support and attendance, please. Do share more widely with your friends and family too.
Thursday 28th November: All welcome to join us for coffee in All Saints’ Church Hall, Grange Road, after 11am Communion in All Saints’ Church, and attend the screened ‘Bystander Webinar’ from 12.30pm till 1.15pm. Attending this is part of our Silver ‘Rise Up’ Award. The ‘Bystander Webinar’ is part of raising awareness against domestic abuse and looks into how we can be active bystanders whilst at the same time ensuring that we keep ourselves safe. When we are aware that someone’s behaviour is inappropriate, we can choose to challenge it using the 5 D’s which are Distract, Delegate, Document, Delay, Direct – all explained during the webinar.
The webinar will take no more than 45 minutes. It might be a good idea to bring a packed lunch too because we will be assembling our MU Christmas Tree in Church, based on the Carol ‘It came upon the Midnight clear’ afterwards, please.
Global Day – Saturday 30th November: as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence which is from 25th November to 10th December Mothers’ Union members invite all to our annual Global Day Service at 11.30am on Saturday 30th November in All Saints’ Church Hall. Refreshments available from 11am. There will be a retiring collection for the East Sussex Refuges. At 12.40pm we will assemble and walk to Bankers’ Corner, in Terminus Road to have our Silence for ‘No more 1 in 3’ at 1.03pm.
Please disperse home from here or come back to All Saints’ and have further refreshments and your own packed lunch in the Hall till 2pm. Please encourage friends and family to join us. I am using the Service template from Mothers’ Union and will be asking for volunteers to take part. Thank you.
