The annual Mission Worship conference (www.missionworship.com ) is back in Eastbourne on 15th-17th November, at Kings Centre, Edison Road, BN23 6PT!

Worship leaders include Tim Hughes (writer of ‘Here I Am To Worship’, and other worship classics), Lucy Grimble, Noel Robinson, Rich & Lydia Dicas, Philippa Hanna and Helen Yousaf.

The Mission Worship team would love you to join us at the conference under the theme “Spirit Break Out.” This gathering promises to be a transformative experience as we come together, united in our longing for a fresh move of the Holy Spirit.

For several years now, many across the Church have been speaking about this awakening. While we’ve sensed a stirring in our hearts, we are eager to see our reality match the rhetoric. Reflecting on our recent Mission Worship conferences, we have truly felt a shift. God’s awesome presence has manifested in profound, life-changing ways, and we believe this is just the beginning!

In our previous gatherings, we’ve experienced powerful moments of divine encounter, alongside remarkable worship and explosive testimonies of healing and renewal. These experiences remind us of our deep need for the Holy Spirit to draw us out of the shallows and into a deeper place of reverence, revelation, and refreshing.

As Jesus said, “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.” (Revelation 3:20). Let us open that door and invite His presence among us.

Over the three days together, we will share our passion for worship, find times of refreshing, build our faith, and delve into the Word. Through engaging workshops, carefully curated seminars, powerful teachings, and heartfelt worship sessions, our prayer is that we will rekindle our love for the sacred, unlock new creative pathways, and experience profound spiritual encounters.

“Spirit Break Out” is more than just a conference; it’s a spiritual journey that promises to leave you refreshed, inspired, and refuelled by the presence of the Holy Spirit. Together, we will be better equipped to worship God wholeheartedly and lead others in worship.

Full weekend tickets are currently £85, going up to £110 on the day. But we have a special offer for Eastbourne Churches, where you can purchase your full weekend tickets for £30Just enter the code MW30 when booking.

In anticipation and joy,

The Mission Worship Team

Energy Advice via Churches

Energise Sussex Coast is a non profit renewable energy cooperative working to reduce energy inequality through community energy projects and energy advice and events. With the cost of living and energy fuel prices continuing to rise, and the withdrawal of the winter fuel allowance for most pensioners, we’d like to offer talks to church communities – to help them reduce their bills this winter, as well as to help them make the transition to low carbon.

Also our advice is impartial and there is no selling. We can offer a range of topics and make them interactive with games and even some freebie light bulbs etc.

If you think this is something that individual churches might take up, I wonder if we could have an article in your newsletter before the winter gets underway? If you’d like to talk it through, please could you give me a call on 07464599460.

My best regards,
Helen

Local Government Cuts – Church Input Requested

Eastbourne Borough Council has begun a consultation over a range of savings proposals including:

  • Public toilets: moving to a community toilet scheme. This would involve identifying toilets available for public use across Eastbourne and closing most council-owned public toilets.
  • Street cleansing: focussing activity on areas with higher footfall.
  • Grounds maintenance: focussing on core activities and seeking community support in other areas.
  • Customer services: slightly reducing our face-to-face and telephone operating hours.
  • Car parks: reviewing charges and hours of operation.
  • Sovereign Centre: considering reducing the number of pools available whilst protecting swimming lessons, school swimming and structured sessions such as lane swimming. We are also looking at different uses for the spaces such as soft play, a climbing wall or greater gym capacity.
  • Community grants: reducing our budget for grants to our voluntary sector partners (including Rent Support Grants) after April 2025.
  • Eastbourne Town Hall: explore ways to reduce the costs and consider alternative uses for the building.
  • The Splash Pad at Princes Park: identify options for future sponsorship for it to remain open.

We would value your support in publicising the consultation and particularly welcome responses from churches in Eastbourne.

The consultation runs until 5pm on Thursday, October 31. Further information can be found in the announcement email below or on our website www.lewes-eastbourne.gov.uk/EBCsavingsconsultation
