24 Hours of Prayer for Eastbourne by Our Young People

24 in 24 in 24 – Saturday 6th July.  Young people praying for our town!

’24 in 24 in 24’ is the name given to the youth relay prayer walk planned for Saturday 6th July.  24 miles around the circumference of Eastbourne in 24 hours in 2024.

The aim is to encourage our young people to catch a vision of praying God’s blessing on our town. There are six ‘legs’ – details below.  There will be a ‘Prayer Baton’ which will be passed from group to group.  Handover times are as near as we can guess, but are approximate.

You are most welcome to join one of the legs with your young people.

You would be responsible for your own young people.  There is no lower age limit but any one under 11 should also be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.  The upper age limit is 25 except for youth leaders or accompanying parents. You are responsible to arrange drop off and pick up for your participants.  Bring your own first aid kit.  There will be a car with water bottles which can be called if anyone can’t complete their leg.

We are suggesting that groups think ahead and prepare/write their own prayers to be said on the day. You can find out more about Pray Eastbourne 2024 by checking out the website or the facebook page.

If you would like to find out more about taking part or to register your interest please contact Martyn Relf.  Phone/text 07706 181568.

Beachy Head Chaplaincy Team – 20 Years of Service

This year we celebrate 20 years of BHCT. Since 2004 BHCT has been seeking out, reaching out, giving support, offering hope and saving lives at Beachy Head.

In that time there have been 102 Chaplains operational at Beachy Head all members of local churches and all called to serve Jesus and follow his example to serve others. “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:9-10.

On 20th August at 7:30pm there will be a re commissioning of the BHCT team, celebration event, at St John the Evangelist Church Eastbourne. Also to celebrate our 20th anniversary we have produced a video about our work. The video is available in a longer format of 10 mins or a short formatted 3 mins which is suitable for using in a church, mission or prayer event.

Deaf Ministry in Eastbourne

Tracey Hughes from St John’s Meads has a passion for Deaf ministry in Eastbourne. Victoria Baptist Church holds a monthly community café within which they have an area for BSL users and learners and occasionally have services signed. Tracey has recently gained her Level three signing and has 14 years of experience and has occasionally signed services at St John’s Meads. Are there any other signers in Eastbourne who would be interested in joining her in signing in services? Are there other churches interested in providing signed services for the Deaf? Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could facilitate a monthly signed service in Eastbourne and, in time, a weekly service possibly at different churches? Let’s help make things accessible for this community. If you have skills or are interested in pursuing this, contact Rev George Fisher –
