Jesus Loves Eastbourne – A unique idea for local mission

Geoff Tompkins of Jesus Loves Bexhill writes:

It all started some six years ago when my friend and I started going out litter picking along Bexhill promenade, wearing t-shirts carrying the message ‘Jesus Loves Bexhill’, and eventually upgrading to brilliant lime-green HiVis tops so people could easily see and identify us once our numbers had significantly increased.

Over the years we have experienced some amazing things:- healing, divine appointments, salvations, people’s faith being rejuvenated, our boldness and experience growing, as we have gone out and about in Bexhill at least twice every month, collecting litter and chatting with people. We have become very well known and appreciated, and even our MP asked to come out with us, which he did for a couple of hours;

café owners give us free drinks, one even offered us free curries, and organisers of big events such as Bexhill Carnival, Horse Show and Custom Car Show, have allowed us to place full page information in their programmes, and have even given sizeable donations! You can find out much more on our website at www.jesuslovesbexhill.org.uk.

People from other towns have seen and heard what is going on in Bexhill and have wanted to emulate what we do. We support these groups in many ways:- providing all artwork for their very own Jesus Loves their town logo, plus sufficient equipment and HiVis tops to get them started.

There are now groups in various towns as follows:
Jesus Loves Copthorne
Jesus Loves Crawley Down
Jesus Loves East Grinstead
Jesus Loves Sidley
Jesus Loves St Leonards

Recently we have been asked to help establish groups in other towns in West Sussex, but what about a Jesus Loves Eastbourne, or a Jesus Loves Langney, or even a Jesus Loves Hampden Park???

If you would like to help establish a group in your area and would like to know more, please get in touch, we would love to meet up and share more with you.  Perhaps a few of us from other towns could come along and share at a church house group or similar; or perhaps a meeting first over a coffee somewhere near you?

You could already be out there serving in the community, or wanting to but don’t know how.  We would be happy to talk it through – please get in touch.
