Project Worker – Fresh Expressions of Church for Children and Families

St John’s Church Meads, Eastbourne BN20
16 hours per week
£11,440 plus contributory pension
St John’s Meads is a long-established community of believers, with a small but growing children and families ministry. We believe there is very real potential to grow and develop our engagement with children, young people and families  by pioneering a variety of creative outreach and fresh expressions of church. With this in mind we are seeking to appoint a project worker to lead the development of a number of such fresh expressions over the next three years and beyond.
More details about the role, including an application form, can be found at stjm.org.uk/project-worker. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. All post holders and volunteers are expected to share this commitment. This appointment is subject to acceptable pre-appointment checks, including a satisfactory Enhanced DBS with barred lists check.
Please complete the application form from the website and send it to wardendavid@stjm.org.uk.

A Sabbath Day For Those in Ministry

On 30th July at Crowhurst Christian Healing Centre (CCHC) we are holding a day of rest especially for those in ministry.  We wondered if you would kindly let your Church Leaders know about it.
The day is free of charge because we wish to bless, encourage and provide a safe, restful space for clergy and other church workers.  During the day there will be some led reflections and Communion but the main focus will be on offering lots of time and space to rest.  Lunch and refreshments are included.  Donations towards our costs are welcome but not expected.
I have attached a flyer about the day. Booking is essential to help us with catering.
Kind regards
Esther

Quiet Revival in the UK?

Churches in Britain are experiencing a ‘Quiet Revival’, according to new research by the Bible Society.

New data reverses held beliefs that Christianity is declining in Britain. Instead, engagement with church is increasing, particularly amongst Gen Z. Over 13,000 people were surveyed on church involvement. Data was compared to a near-identical study of a similar sample group in 2018.

Across all age groups, church attendance increased 56% between 2018 and 2024. Most notably, attendance among Gen Z (ages 18-24) has quadrupled, from 4% to 16%.

Churches and Our Response to Violence Against Women

Sat 29th March

9.30am for 10am

All Saints’ Church Hall,

Grange Road, Eastbourne

Bekah Legg is the CEO of Restored, a Christian charity working to speak up about violence against women and equip the Church to stand against domestic abuse and with survivors. A survivor herself, Bekah is committed to helping other men and women find freedom and live life to the full.

A former teacher, youth worker and Church leader, Bekah managed the youth support line and relationship education programme for a sexual violence center on the South Coast. She delivered sex and relationships workshops in secondary schools and with the local youth service.

Bekah has published papers and lectures on a biblical understanding of domestic abuse and gender-based violence and has spoken at the UN on the important role the Church can and does play in ending VAWG.

Together with her husband Steve she has raised 5 daughters and fostered 4 boys. They used their sometimes crazy experience to inspire a series of devotional books for families to grow in faith together and talk about the stuff that matters.
