During the Pandemic the forced suspension of on-site services caused a transformation in how individuals connected with church.
As the building doors slammed shut the digital doors swung wide open.
For many people, especially for those whom are unable to attend on-site church services and activities due to health issues, disability or lack of accessibility measures, the emergence of digital opening allowed them access and equality with those who had always taken this access for granted.
Whereas before there were pioneering groups forging new paths, now we needed main roads, digital highways, mass connections. For those that had not ever considered attending a church service, many sampled what church is like through live streams and social media.
The digital generation discovered that the church had something to say to them on the platforms and devices through which they live their lives. People connected to church across borders, cultures and traditions.
As social distancing regulations are relaxed it is vital that as we re-open the building doors of the church that we do not shut the digital doors!

As we have all been aware , the pandemic has taken its toll on many sectors and none more so than the vulnerable living in Care homes. For well over a year strict restrictions have been placed on visits and items into all homes throughout the country.
PARCHE is a local Christian Charity and has for over 20 years been sending small teams into Eastbourne homes to share the Christian message and run short services for residents who are unable to go to a local church or who are not currently linked to them. Volunteers form teams from one or several churches working together ..
We are so grateful that many church fellowships have shared in our work both financially over the years..
We are now beginning to receive requests from homes enquiring about re commencing visits but unfortunately the circumstances for many volunteers over the last 18 months have changed and some have felt that they are unable to continue with this aspect of Christian service for a variety of reasons.
We are, therefore, making contact with churches in Eastbourne to share our vision of reaching to care homes as they beginn to emerge from the lockdown.
We have produced a short video sketch highlighting our work and are asking for this to be shown to congregations with the hope that that individuals may feel led to help with this aspect of Christian Service. We would ask if you could show it during your main service or at church home or house groups.
We would be happy to discuss this further or meet anyone who might wish to be involved. The commitment would be for one regular service a month at a local care home.
Members of a team would between them read a bible passage, say a short prayer, sing one or two familiar hymns or share short message and bring a friendly welcome into the home.
Here is the link to the short presentation. ( you don’t need to sign into Dropbox to review and download.)
We invite you to come and join us as we celebrate 150 years of work and witness in Eastbourne at:

Want a stress free way to help your youth ministry grow? Then let the Amplify Young Evangelists Academy help you and your church!
Amplify is the nation’s national Young Evangelists’ Academy for 11-17s. HOPE Together’s Youth Director Dan Randall says, ‘We would love to serve your church and youth ministry by equipping your young people to reach their generation for Jesus, giving them tools to reach out and help others to share their faith too. The Corona-coaster isn’t stopping us raising up the next wave of evangelists!’
The ministries behind Amplify include HOPE Together, Church of England, Scripture Union, Message Trust, Youth For Christ, Pais Movement, Alpha, Luis Palau Association, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Elim, Evangelical Alliance and a number of other partners.
‘We have been dreaming and scheming together to see what would happen if we could raise up the next wave of evangelists in our nation. What if we find the next Billy Graham, Jackie Pullinger, or J John?’ says Dan. ‘The possibilities are endless: a new generation reaching their generation for Jesus, equipping the Church to reach this generation and equipping the next generation to reach the generations to come.’
Amplify is for young people who feel called to be an evangelist, or those who are beginning to exercise the gift of an evangelist. Amplify offers an opportunity for one or two of these young people from each church to join the four-part Amplify programme for a year from January 2022.
Four parts of Amplify online
Gatherings: At the beginning of the year we’ll gather the whole group to begin to dream about what it means to reach a generation for Jesus. Throughout the year there are two residential events which are planned for 1st-3rd October 2021 and 18th-20th March 2022.
Small groups: These will be put together based on age. They’ll meet online and will be facilitated by small group leaders. These will follow the Advance Evangelist Group model (advancegroups.org).
Specialist mentoring: Evangelism takes place in many different forms from platforms, on social media, through friendships and in many others ways. In Spring 2022 the young people will take part in online Specialist Mentoring sessions with evangelists from all sectors of society. These people are specialists in their field of evangelism.
An ongoing platform for storytelling and testimony: There will be opportunities for the young people to share the stories of how they are reaching a generation for Jesus.
How do I sign up a young person?
Head to the website: www.amplifyacademy.co.uk then fill in an application for your young person / young people. Spaces are limited to 100 people nationally and applications close at the end of August 2021. There is a small cost of £30 for each residential, but there is also a bursary for anyone for whom that is not affordable. So sign up your young people quick as spaces are already going fast.

We have a Healing week commencing on the September 3rd-6th titled Freedom from Fear & Control. During this special 4-Day Healing Weekend we will gently explore how Jesus wants to bring the heart of God to the pain and wounding that come with fear and issues of control. In Luke 4 it tells us that Jesus came to heal the broken hearted and to bring liberty to those who are captive.
Our 2nd Connect day will be on September the 22nd . On this 1-day course we will look at the theme “Living Connected” through guided creative activities using paints, crayons, glue and so much more (don’t worry you don’t have to be even remotely artistic to join in!). We are all creative, made in the image of our Creator God. Discover the joy of being creative in a non-threatening way and allow God to connect with you. This day is for everyone! There will be topic-focused creativity that allows you to find God and connect with Him in a new and fresh way. The sessions will be led by experienced staff who will come alongside to facilitate the day. It will also include tea/coffee and lunch for £20. All materials will be provided for the day in our specially built creativity centre.
Our Explore Course is continuing running and it’s not too late to join it. Explore is a series of weekend courses designed to train and equip God’s people through a journey of learning, understanding and personal transformation. Each of the events in the series will include time for worship, biblical teaching, group discussion, activities, personal reflection and opportunity for prayer. The next course in this series is ‘God’s Master Key’ where it explores the power of forgiveness.
In 2019 Kingdom Way Trust was asked by those working with the street community in Eastbourne to facilitate a drop-in centre at the weekends to provide a safe and welcoming place for those who would complement the great work done by Matthew 25 and the Salvation Army from Monday to Friday. This drop-in was provided at the Seaside Community Hub each Saturday and Sunday from 10am-4pm. Since the start of the pandemic this type of drop-in has not been possible however with restrictions easing we are planning to re-open.
We are in need of a new venue to hire as the Community Hub is no longer available.
If you are aware of any church hall, community hall etc. within walking distance of the town centre that might be available each Saturday and Sunday to accommodate up to about 30 people, with toilet and refreshment preparation facilities, please do contact us: roland@kingdomwaytrust.org or 07907 965325
