- A Prisoner of Shame? A Weekend for Women 6th – 8th December: Shame is an emotion we all experience which keeps us in captivity. It is the fear of what others might think that prevents us from opening up about it. The experiences that result in shame can also distort our understanding of our true identity as God sees us. How securely is your identity rooted in Jesus? The Bible reminds us that we are children of God and God has lavished his love on us (1 John 3 v 1), but we also know that `shame is the most powerful master emotion – the fear that we are not good enough` (Brene Brown), and so it can feel very difficult to accept God loves us.
If you are living with shame, or its consequences, you are welcome to join us at Crowhurst Christian Healing Centre for a weekend especially aimed at women. We are limiting the number of places, in order to provide a safe space to explore how identity may be shaped by experiences, both good and bad. The weekend will include teaching and worship, as well as offering time for personal reflection. We hope you will also have fun! There will be opportunity to receive personal prayer, if you wish, and time to share personal stories, as we acknowledge that shame derives its power from being unspeakable. £270 per person for an ensuite room/£250 per person for a non ensuite room.
