This summer, we invite you to step away from the busyness of everyday life and spend a day in God’s presence at Crowhurst Christian Healing Centre.
Our Quiet Days offer space to worship, reflect, pray and simply be still. Through inspiring teaching from our Chaplaincy Team, Christ-centred, Spirit-led worship, and the peace of our beautiful grounds, they provide an opportunity to draw deeply from the well of God’s love and presence.Digging Deep: Encounters at the Wells of Scripture
- Friday 25th July – The Well of Unknowing
Led by Steve Gurr
“A quiet day to explore our relationship with God’s possibility.”
Throughout Scripture, wells are places of profound encounter. They are places where lives are changed, where people meet God, and where living water is found (John 4:10, 13–14).
Yet wells can also represent places of darkness, depth and uncertainty.
What if the very places where we feel unsure or out of our depth become places of invitation? Places where we bring our fears and questions honestly before God, and discover that He is already waiting for us there.
Join Steve as he explores how the unknown can become a place of trust, courage and fresh encounter with God.
- Friday 8th August – The Midnight Well
Led by David Mayhew
Darkness is part of life’s journey. We all experience seasons of struggle, uncertainty and grief, and when we look at the world around us, it can be easy to lose hope.
Yet the testimony of Scripture and the saints reminds us that, with God, darkness is never the end of the story. John of the Cross described it as the “Dark Night of the Soul”—a place where we can draw more deeply from the well of God’s love and discover His transforming presence.
Together we will explore how God’s people, throughout the Bible and history, not only endured difficult times but were changed through them. We’ll reflect on the gifts of creativity, the healing power of nature, and above all, the life-changing encounter with Christ that meets us even in the darkest places.
In the words of Malcolm Guite:
In the rich midnight came the lovely other…
And now you call us all to hear that Fountain
Singing and playing well before the dawn
The sun is still below this shadowed mountain
We wait in darkness for him to be born.
Before he rises, light-winged with the lark,
We’ll meet with our beloved in the dark.
